We had loads of fun at our Avengers Movie Marathon Kickoff Party, but every party needs some in between calmer activities that keep the party goes busy occupied while you are getting the next activity or game ready. I like to call them “Busy Activities”. Make sure you check out our other Avengers games (Pillow Sumo Wrestling), Avenger Themed Food and activities (Captain America Tie-dye t-shirts – coming soon!)
Keep Them Busy Party Activities
I think every party needs a couple simple busy activities that will occupy the kiddos while you are prepping the next activity. It could even be coloring a piece of paper. I had 3 “Keep Them Busy” activities, one that I actually prepped and used. The other 2 were backups that we ended up not needing because my husband threw together a great big muscle using activity…I forgot how physical and active a group of boys can be when in the same room! 😉
Movie Box Decorating
As we were kicking off our Avengers Movie Marathon with our party, I thought it would be fun to make everyone Movie Boxes (more details further down). So as one of our busy activities, we had everyone color and decorate their Movie Boxes “Avenger Style”. We used this activity to keep some of the kiddos busy while I took a small group to make their tie dye Captain America T-Shirts.
What You Need:
- Trays
- Wrapping paper
- 2 Packs Colored Markers
Directions:
Step 1: Wrap each tray with the wrapping paper. I used the backside of the wrapping paper and if you do this, you can even use any you have in storage, like leftover Christmas wrapping paper. If you don’t want them to decorate the movie box, there is Avenger wrapping paper too.
Step 2: Let them get creative and decorate to their hearts content.
Step 3: Checkout how we filled these trays for the movie!
Avenger Dodge Ball
Since the boys blew threw the movie box decorating, my husband set up some dividers, broke everyone who wasn’t working on their shirts outside or coloring movie boxes into 2 teams and tossed each team balls. There was really no objective other than tossing balls across the room and aiming for the other team. They did this for well over 15 minutes and it calmed the boys down a ton!
What You Need:
- Ball pit balls or any sort of soft ball (enough for everyone to have at least 1)
- Gymnastics mats or any sort of obstacles for the center of the room. A couple of alternatives:
- a couch in the middle of the room
- a few chairs with a sheet across them making a divider
- Chairs randomly across the room with a sheet over them to give a little coverage
Additional Party Backup Activities
I always have easy backup activities planned just incase an activity goes faster than I originally intended. Here are a couple more that we did not need to use, but may be of some help for you.
Avenger Paper Plane Toss Competition
Have each child decorate their own paper before folding it. Fold them using our favorite paper airplane and see who’s plane can go the furthest or give them a target to aim for. This can be played with any age. My sister “tested” my airplane post for me as a teenager and her friends and her had a blast for over an hour!
Avenger Dart Gun Shooting
I have yet to meet a kiddo that doesn’t like shooting a Nerf Gun or Bow and Arrow! We picked up an Avengers Bow and Arrow and some extra bullets. It got pulled out at the very end. The boys aimed for the words and Avenger characters in the decorations on the walls.
[…] We had a handful of backup and little activities that helped fill the time when half the group was working on the bigger projects. Like decorating their personal movie boxes or our Avenger Attack Game. Check them out here! […]
