My hubby and I RARELY get out anymore. With his new work schedule of 10 hour days, it does not allow for a lot of alone time. So I have been trying to make more of an effort to plan some fun dates but still allow for some freedom to be spontaneous without spending a lot of money. His ideal date is eating out and catching a movie. My ideal date is doing something fun and active.
So, this last weekend I had a GREAT date night planned that both of us should have enjoyed. On paper, the night summed up to an epic FAIL!!! Seriously, my checklist of awesome plans included: kids going to bed on time (maybe early), hubby and I making some yummy food and homemade ice cream, playing some quick/easy and fun games while the ice cream was mixing and then sitting down to watch a movie we rented.
Instead, we had a kiddo start throwing up just before dinner and opted for frozen pizza to avoid spreading sickness. To keep her down on the couch we rented a movie for all the kids to watch, which kept them up a little later than bedtime.
So, we skipped our dinner making plans and went for the homemade chocolate ice cream since it only takes 20 minutes to make. Then our youngest, who typically stays in her bed once tucked in, decided this would be a great night to keep getting out of her bed 100 times. So, in-between walks up the stairs to put her cute face back to bed, the games did not happen.
That yummy homemade ice cream we were making never thickened up and this is a recipe that we have made a handful of times and it always turned out awesome!
And our movie? I paused it for a 2 minutes max to check on our youngest and came back to find my hubby had passed out!
And all I can do is laugh!
Even though my plans totally failed, I still think our date was a success. One thing I have learned, especially after having kiddos, there is no such thing as a “Perfect Date Night.” BUT what we can do is plan it and then roll with what life throws at us. The key is to find the good and enjoy it. Getting upset and angry would have totally ruined our night, but by the time we got to watching the movie we were starting to laugh about it all. At least we got 30 minutes of movie time together!
As I have witnessed, life is full of unplanned moments and K-Y® Liquibeads can help me be prepared for when the unprepared happens *wink, wink. To be honest, I do not normally go over to the “indoor sports” section to look over new products (which I was mistaken and assumed it was there) and I am sure you don’t either. So, let me tell you where it is located… I found the K-Y® Liquibeads at my local Wal-mart in between the women’s personal products section and the “indoor sports” section on the top row.
Now, I bet you are wondering what is inside…It is actually really simple. Each box comes with 6 capsules and 6 disposable applicators (one for each capsule). To use, you insert 1 capsule into the tip of the applicator, then use it the same way you would a tampon and throw away the applicator. They have made the use easy-peasy with no messy bottle or gel.
Make sure to take this coupon for $1 off any K-Y® Product. Note: women who are pregnant or nursing, they should first consult a doctor before using.
What Is Your Perfect Date Night?
cute post! What adorable kids and hubs. Great tips on how to be ready when the mood strikes.
My perfect date night involves something athletic or thrilling like a trip to a theme park or or something. I also enjoy hot wings and college football, so that’s good too. I’m SO sorry your date night in didn’t work out, but I’m so glad that you guys have KY Liquibeads for when the mood DOES strike. #client
