I love, love, love Christmas and it is right around the corner. I have started getting ready and planning for all the fun activities we do during the holiday season. I love advent calendars and normally do a few different ones with my kids. We do an Activity Advent every year that is so much fun. There are so many neat activities that can be done during the Christmas season and the activity advent helps me fit it all in!
Another advent we do is a Christmas Book Advent. I love this one because I enjoy sharing my passion for reading with my kids. During the busy holiday season it can be easier to just send the kids to bed than to take the time to read them a bed time story. The Book Advent makes me slow down and enjoy the season every night as we all read a book together. The child whose turn it is to open the book never forgets!!!
To make a Book Advent of your own all you need is books and wrapping paper. We do a 24 day count down because we have a lot of Christmas books but if you only have 10 than do a 10 day count down. Each year you can add a book or two till you get enough for the whole month.
Here are some of the ones we enjoy:

After You Have Collected Your Favorite Books
Anyway once you have the books wrap them up and place them in a basket. Each evening let your child open one and enjoy some nice quiet time together.
We have done this for years and when my kids were little I always wrapped them up and had them ready but now that my kids are bigger they all like to help wrap them. I love that they enjoy our traditions and enjoy spending time together.
I don’t put them in any order, we let it be a surprise every night except for the Christmas Eve book. We do label The Night Before Christmas so we are sure to read that on the right evening! I have forgotten this step a few times but oh well we read it twice that year:)
