Cooking class is one of my kids favorite subjects but in the summer I hate to turn the oven on so I love coming up with things to make that don’t require me to heat up the house! Chocolate Covered Bananas are the perfect solution. They are cool, delicious, and healthy (since they have bananas in them wink, wink)!
Ingredients:
- Bananas
- Chocolate Chips
- Craft Sticks
- Crushed Peanuts
- Waxed Paper
The first thing we did was get everything ready. I cut the bananas in half and stuck a craft stick half way in them and threw them in the freezer while we got everything else ready. It is kinda hard for the kids to stick the craft stick in without breaking the banana in two so I did this part for them.
Next we melted our chocolate chips over a double broiler. You can melt them in the microwave if you want but my kids like to stir and watch them melt on the stove.
Next prepare the toppings. We just crushed some peanuts up and used them but you could use sprinkles or anything else that sounds yummy to you.
After the bananas have been in the freezer for about an hour you are ready to cover them. First roll in chocolate.
Then roll in the topping of your choice. Lay them on wax paper and put them back in the freezer for about an hour.
All that’s left is to eat and enjoy.
What fun! Delicious and easy to do. It is perfect for kids.
I love this idea. My kids would probably love them and with a picky eater, this looks easy enough. Thanks for the idea
I’ve never had chocolate on a banana before, you know how you make fondu’s with strawberries and … omg marshmallows etc? Bananas have never been something I’ve mixed with chocolate before. I’ve heard a lot of people enjoy it, and I mean – I like both separately, maybe I’ll give’r a go after hearing all the bad news from my dentist visit this morning. It’s not too much added sugar! Lol.
Two of my favorite things…fruit and CHOCOLATE! My son would love these and since he is on a gluten free diet this would be perfect! thank you for sharing!
Mmmm I remember doing these when I was little, we used to BBQ them too. Wrap the bananas in tin foil with chocolate pieces and anything else we fancied. They were so tasty.
Such awesome memories.

Looks like they were as fun to make as to eat! Yum.
These look absolutely delicious! I’m a huge banana fan, and these would make great alternatives for ice cream bars or something similar!
Yummy, they look amazing! I would like to try this out.
Chocolate covered bananas have always been one of my favorites. Talenti makes a yummy ice cream bar that is caramel and banana gelato covered in chocolate (so good and a good replacement for being too lazy to make chocolate bananas myself!)
Yay! i love me some delicious and healthy treats, and what’s better is how fun it is to make them! 🙂
One of my fav things to make. They look like they loved it!
I LOVE this!! I was actually thinking about making these this weekend 🙂
That is an awesome idea! I’ve done stuffed bananas in the peel, wrapped in tinfoil on the grill, but not just mixed with everything. It reminds me of banana bread. Thanks for sharing!
Looks really delicious and girls look like they enjoyed themselves
Oh, man. You are speaking my love language here! These look great!
This looks like so much fun! I’ll have to try it once my daughter gets older and over her aversion to all things banana
