We have been having a lot of fun with planning my daughter’s 6th birthday party over the past month. When I asked my daughter what she wanted to do she gave me a long list of crafts and projects she wanted to do with her friends! Can you guess who’s daughter she is? Ha! One of her top picks was to make jewelry and thanks to Fizzy Pops we were able to pick out some super cute Pearl Chunky Beads and some Diamond Pendants to make necklaces with all her friends at the party. I think they turned out perfect and all the girls had a blast putting them together. These would also make a perfect gift for the upcoming holiday season as a homemade gift!
What You Need:
- 10 – Faux Pearl Chunky Beads 20mm – Any chunky beads should work, but we thought the pearl was more “princess-y”
- 1 – Large Bling Diamond Pendants
- Ribbon – 1/8 thickness about 80 inches long folded in half with a knot 8 inches in (see pic below
- 1 – Threader – 3-4 inches of beading wire folded in half
Directions:
Step 1: Select your beads….the hardest part! I have yet to see an ugly necklace no matter what was used. All the same color or every bead a different color, they all looked fantastic!
Step 2: Use the threader to pull the ribbon through each bead. Thread each bead one at a time.
Step 3: Tie a knot between each bead before threading the next bead on. For the party we tied only 1 knot because of all the girls we were helping at the same time. I like the look of 2 or three knots tied on top of each other. It is a little thicker. Just make sure you pull the ribbon tight before threading on the next bead to make sure the knots don’t slip to the side, giving it a two knot in a row look, later.
Step 4: Add the diamond pendant after the 5th bead. Make sure to tie 2 knots (on top of each other) before and after the pendant because we discovered it tends to slide over just one knot.
Step 5: Tie the ends together with a double knot or a bow. We had a few necklaces where the ribbon just was not long enough and we had an easy time adding on a little more ribbon to finish it off at the right length. We made these long enough so they could go over the girls’ heads so they could each put them on and off without untying them.
All the girls had a lot of fun making these, of course, we needed 2-3 adults to help out with the 10 girls we had at the party.
And even my son wanted a chance to make one. Luckily, our youngest just turned one and it was a perfect opportunity for him to make her one for her birthday…
…She kept stealing her big sister’s necklace and now they both have one!
I absolutely love the selection and price of the beads at Fizzy Pops and we had so much fun picking out colors for the party! Now you can make your own cute jewelry to and save some money too. Make sure you take advantage of this deal:
