Holidays can get stressful. If you are finding yourself in need of a “Super Mom” or “Super Dad” moment, give these Easter Bird Nests a try. My kids love these and I am sure yours will too. These would also make a cute neighbor gift or visiting teaching treat too.
What You Need:
- 6 ounces (1/2 bag) of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 6 ounces (1/2 of a large bag) of chow mein noodles
- 36 mini Cadbury eggs
- small saucepan
- wax paper
Servings: 12
Directions:
Step 1: In a small sauce pan, melt 1/2 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips on low heat stirring constantly. You can also do this in the microwave, stop every 30 seconds or less and give it a good stir to make sure you do not overheat the chocolate and burn it.
Step 2: Once the chocolate is fully melted, remove from heat.
Step 3: Add the chow mien noodles and stir until everything looks covered.
Step 4: Create the “nests” by dropping a spoonful of the mixture onto the wax paper. Shape into a nest form, if needed.
Step 5: Once cooled add the chocolate eggs to the top.
Alternative Tips
You can use a muffin pan, to shape them more round if you are wanting that look too.
What do you do for Easter?
We normally have a pancake breakfast in our neighborhood park. The older teens in our church will hide all the candy filled eggs for the littles while we eat breakfast. Its fun to see all the fun dresses, some in pjs, running about searching for their eggs. It is an event we look forward to most years, unless of course we all sleep in and FORGET completely about it. In that case we have an Easter morning in our backyard and the kids love that just as much. 🙂
