I am so excited to be working with BYUtv to share with you a great way we have been able to save money and enjoy some great family friendly entertainment.
With the advances in technology and the many ways to watch our favorite shows, it has been months since our family has “tuned in”/turned on basic television. We have always had basic television or watched a lot of our favorite shows via our computer in the office. Spending money for something monthly like cable/dish/satellite television has never been in a priority in our budget. We have been hearing about Roku from family for years and finally decided it was time to get one. And boy oh boy,we have not been disappointed! It opened a whole new world for us of great family friendly entertainment with very few or no commercials at all, which I REALLY appreciate, and allows us to watch them all in the family room on our regular television from the comfort of our couch vs. cramped in the office in front of small computer screen.
One of the biggest perks with the Roku is the wide variety of channels we can now view. It seems like there are new channels being added all the time. One of my personal favorite’s is the BYUtv channel. I loved having this channel on basic television back in my college days in Utah and am so excited to be able to have access to it again. If I ever need a good family friendly show to watch or listen to or just want some clean entertainment on in the background while I am cleaning, I know I can count on BYUtv. One of our family favorites is Studio C. It is a lot like Saturday Night Live, but family friendly. I can watch it without having to censor anything or have the remote in hand in case it gets too inappropriate for the kiddos to see. Gotta love that!
Sneak Peak
Here is a sneak peak of their show:
We have actually been watching their music videos via youtube (Firebolt is their favorite) over the last couple years as Divine Comedy and with the addition of our Roku just realized they are now the cast of Studio C.
Live Television
What I also love about watching BYUtv is that I can watch their station LIVE via their channel on our Roku or I can catch a specific show that has already aired when it is convenient for me. They do not seem to have a waiting period after a show has aired before you can watch it vs other networks will have you wait a day or even weeks before it is available for viewing.
Variety of Shows
Not only does BYUtv have a great family friendly comedy show like Studio C, they also have other shows that are great for anytime watching, like Granite Flats, Audio-Files, Turning Point and many more that I do not have enough space here to write about. BUT you should totally go over to the BYUtv channel or their site to check out the other show descriptions. I am sure you will find something that will interest you! And another perk that I love about their Live TV, is that I can catch a workout or some oldies that I love, like Doc, Sue Thomas F.B.Eye or some great classic family movies…I know I am a geek, but don’t mock me until you watch them! 😆 You can check out their Live TV schedule here.
More Than You Think
Now this should go without saying, but I know a few of my friends are probably thinking, “it is BYUtv and since that means it is connected to BYU (Brigham Young University) that all these shows are strictly religious” and you would be wrong. Yes, there are some religious based shows (i.e. devotionals, Mormon Tabernacle Choir performances) that are mainly early morning and Sundays daytime, but a lot of their other programing is non-demoniational, clean, family television. All shows you can trust to be safe and no risqué commercials!
BYUtv is available for viewing via Roku, iPhone/iPad, Dish Network, DirectTV, Cable and coming fall 2013 to Androids and XBOX 360.
