Halloween is getting closer and we are just finishing up our pumpkins! My kiddos are even more excited than last year. Last year’s pumpkin was a little crazy looking, but we found a fix for this year’s pumpkins and are loving how they are turning out. I am thinking we are going to make these into candy buckets!
First, we made our pumpkins from this homemade pinata tutorial and once dried we painted them orange.
Second, we found a stencil or silhouette that was easy to cut out. We had fun looking through this list of free pumpkin stencils.
Third, we lightly taped the stencil on and pat the black paint on. Having a 2nd set of hands for this part is very helpful! We started at side and then adjusted the paper for the curve when we started on the opposite side.
Fourth, we let the pumpkins dry and now I am enjoying those happy faces of accomplishment!
ENJOY!!!

What a great idea Michelle! These look darling!
Love these photos and she looks so proud!
That’s actually a very good idea! Not only do you have to go out and buy a pumpkin, but you don’t have to deal with the hassle of throwing the entire thing away too! Well, unless you know how to cook it. It is a very kid-friendly project. Very cute pumpkin there!
