For Fall Break I recently took my family on a trip to the small town of Duncan, Arizona (it’s on the East border of Arizona and New Mexico) where I grew up visiting often to see all my grandparents. My children have always been great travelers, but need a fun distraction every now and then. I introduced a few new games to them this trip that they really enjoyed and thought I would share one with you. This game can last quite a while and is great for children who love to memorize. Even my 6 year old loved it!
RULES
The key to a fun road trip game, is to keep the rules simple and this one does just that. You can play with as many players as you want, but if you have at least two players, it will work great, too.
Rule 1: This is an alphabet game, so you will start with A and end with Z.
Rule 2: The only phrase you will need to remember is: “I’m going on a trip and in my bag I am going to take a { Insert Alphabet Word of Choice}”. When it is their turn they can pick any word for the letter that is their turn…See example below
HOW TO PLAY:
Player 1: Picks a word starting with A…”I’m going on a trip and in my bag I am going to take a Alligator”
Player 2: Repeats the A word and picks a word starting with A…”I’m going on a trip and in my bag I am going to take an Alligator and Bee”
Next Player: Repeats the A and B words and picks a word starting with C…”I’m going on a trip and in my bag I am going to take an Alligator, Bee, and a Catapult”
Continue Play: Play until the final person repeats A-Z and then each player gets their turn to repeat the whole list as well.
Have Fun and Enjoy!
