Over the years I have been slowly cleaning up the products we have been bringing into our house. It first started with my husband having an allergic reaction to his regular deodorant. As a solution we discovered a natural roll-on alternative that has very little ingredients that worked great for him and has kept away his allergic reaction. Then shortly after that my 2 year old daughter downed a small sample tube of toothpaste and I had to call Poison Control. When I turned the tube over to look at the ingredients, I had no idea what she ingested. Luckily, she was okay but I hated that long list of unknowns and so that encouraged me to start reading all the labels of the products and food we were bringing into our home.
When I started doing my research I was surprised to see the list of ingredients on all our products. After reading each list I always wondered…
- What are all these ingredients in real language not the scientific names?
- What do they do?
- Are they needed?
- Why don’t they make these easier to understand?
I love that Tom’s of Maine’s website makes it simple for me to know the answer to all these questions. If you hop on over to their website, you can find everything laid out…what the ingredients are, why each ingredients is used and where it comes from. And the best part is that that it is such a short and simple list of ingredients. Just what is needed!
“Our products do not contain artificial colors, flavors, fragrances, preservatives, animal ingredients or animal testing. Our toothpaste is made in Maine. You can learn more about their ingredients, including its purpose and source, by visiting www.tomsofmaine.com. Tom’s of Maine also offers other natural products, Deodorant, Bar Soap and Mouthwash.”
The bonus, I can find Tom’s of Maine at my local Walmart and have been able to throughout the years no matter how small or big the town was we were living in at the time. You can find the Tom’s of Maine® Silly Strawberry® Anticavity Toothpaste in the with the kid section of toothpastes and the Tom’s of Maine® Simply White® Clean Mint Cavity Protection Toothpaste a little further down the isle with the adult toothpastes.
I was all ready to make my own products from scratch, but love that I do not have to and have a company I can turn to that is telling me exactly what I can expect from their products. My kiddos have never complained about not liking their toothpaste and I think they enjoy the strawberry flavor. As for my husband and me, we like the adult version with the added bonus of whitening our teeth at the same time.
How do you live more naturally?
We have been using Tom’s of Maine for years in my house. As you said, the list of ingredients is shorter (and all-natural). #client
I know, right?!?! Thanks for joining in on the conversation!
