I’ve been trying to be more on top of keeping traditions alive. (One of my goals for the year is to make the “important” traditions really stand out, and not just do them as an afterthought.) And so, with the help of some of my kids, we’ve prepped for our “Love Notes” Valentine tradition. (which idea I took from this blog) Nothing fancy required. Just scissors, construction paper, tape, and something to write with.
Basically, everybody is given a blank heart for each person in the family and they write one thing they love about each person.
Super simple, but so sweet to see those notes all month long! (here are some from years past)
Sometimes we sit down and write them all in one evening. This year we’ll start with one evening, but, since I’m a little more prepared, I’m going to have a basket set up so whenever the inspiration strikes them, they can write a quick love note and add it to our wall.
I encourage them to do it all on their own (which makes for fun memories when you look back and see ones like this):

I ♥ “Name” because {she} make{s} me laugh.
But even the little ones that don’t write yet will either tell me what they love about their siblings and I write it for them, or they draw a picture and tell me what words to write to go with the picture they drew.
This year, we’ll have this set up handy:
My hope is that with the basket right in plain sight, they’ll look for things that they love about each other, so they can write more down and that way they won’t have to stretch quite so hard to find something to write that first night….
(I guess we were not getting along all that well the day this one was written! :D)
Happy Valentine’s Day – hope you have lots of LOVE {notes} in your home!
