I started a few years ago making my own natural cleaners to save money and now that my kids all help with cleaning I love them not having to be around harsh smelling chemicals. If you are interested in how we do cleaning and chores at my house with 7 kids you can read all about it HERE and HERE.
To be honest when I started making my own I didn’t like the natural cleaners all that much because nothing ever smelled clean. I had been trained all these years to register strong chemicals with clean so it has taken me a while to untrain my mind.
Essential oils are the perfect solution to my need for smell and for it still to be safe for my kids. Many essential oils are natural disinfectants so they are perfect for cleaning. This all-purpose cleaner has only 5 ingredients and I bet they are all right around your house!
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon dish soap
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 Tablespoons white vinegar
- Warm water
- Lemon essential oil or Onguard is good too
- Empty squirt bottle ( I used an old cleaner bottle but a glass or aluminum one is best when using essential oils.)
- Funnel
Step 3: Add 2 T. white vinegar.
Step 5: Add warm water to fill. Mine took about 2 cups.
Step 6: Add 12 drops of lemon essential oil.
Step 7: Shake and use! Tip: I shake it before I use it each time to make sure it doesn’t separate.

Hi, there! Great tip for all purpose natural cleaner! I make almost the same, the only exception is I don’t use a dish soap. I mean, without a dish soap, the cleaner works well, too. Thank you for sharing!
