I have this fabulous Aunt that never lets a holiday or occasion go by with out sending a card. My kids love it and think it is awesome to get mail. I so want this to be me one day for all my nieces, nephews, and grand kids.
Every year I have these great goals that I am going to start sending cards and then half way through the year I haven’t sent one.
Not a month goes by that there isn’t at least one birthday. March has 5!!! I finally realized with a family as big as ours I needed a plan! I found the perfect solution and it didn’t even cost me an arm and a leg.
Thanks to the new Hallmark cards starting at 47 cents that you can find only at Walmart you can buy cards for the whole year at one time! I bought 30 cards and only spent 15 dollars! I say that is quite a bargain.
We found cards for girls, boys, men and women. They had cards for almost every occasion but I was focusing on birthdays!
Now whats my plan you are wondering????
First you need a holder. I had this box in my stash that I got at the dollar store a while ago and it is the perfect size.
Next you need some dividers. Let me tell you a secret for the best thin sturdy cardboard. Ready….. Cereal Boxes! I know mind blown. Talk about making something out of nothing. (Tip: They are almost always blank on the inside and are great for kids crafts.)
I cut mine 5 1/2 by 7 1/2 and they were the perfect size.
Next I took my trusty label maker and typed out all the months. The crooked September is driving me crazy:)
I made a sheet with all the months on it and put each persons name and the date under the month so I would have everything in one place!
Next I assigned a card to each person. Like this cute one for my mom. She has the next birthday!
Once they are assigned I had a signing party with my kids. We passed around all the cards and everyone signed them. Rewarding them with a treat might be a good idea if they have to do as many as mine:)
Next I wrote their names on the outside and if I have to mail them I put the address, return address label and the stamp so it was all ready to go!
Seriously I have no excuse anymore! I love being organized. Doesn’t it look so awesome!!!
How many birthdays do you need cards for in a year? Don’t you want an organizer too??
I love this idea!! It’s so fun to brighten someone’s day…. and great to teach the kids both HOW to mail a card and WHY it’s fun & important 🙂
So glad you like the idea!
