Everyone needs a doctor at some time or other. If you are like me, I usually avoid going until I absolutely need to take someone in…that is until I learned about Walgreens Healthcare Clinic in Phoenix and how convenient they are to visit.
Now I am wishing I had learned about them sooner! Here are 4 times I needed a Walgreens Healthcare Clinic:
#1 High Fevers and Ear Aches
I cannot tell you how many times my kiddos spike super high fevers and/or have come down with ear infections on the weekends. This always seemed to happen in the wee hours of the morning, so I was always waiting for the sun to rise and an Urgent Care to open. The only problem is the Urgent Care we like is 30+ minutes away from us and does not open until the afternoon AND we never know what the wait is going to be like when we get there. Visiting a Walgreens Healthcare Clinic would have been nice for those occasions because I could have been able to schedule an appointment first thing for the morning and know that I would never have more than a 20 minute wait once we arrived. Even better, I could get our prescription filled while we waited and avoid an extra trip in the car with a sick kiddo.
#2 Visiting Out Of State and Too Far From Our Home Doctor
A few years ago my husband took the kiddos on a weekend trip with their Grandpa to a cabin while we were visiting from out of state. My oldest daughter, who was two and half years old at the time, tripped on a stick and got a big gash on her leg. Being that it was just The Men and being manly, they brushed her up, did a quick clean and kissed it better. When they brought her home, the next day both men looked a little guilty when they saw my reaction to her wound. She should have definitely seen somebody for it because 6+ months later we ended up having to get a large splinter surgically removed that had been buried deep into her leg. If they knew they had the option of visiting a Walgreens in the nearby town, they would have taken her in to get her wound cleaned and we could have avoided 6 months of leg pain and the trauma of having her leg cut open. Everyone, including the doctor, felt bad about that!
The other neat thing is that we could have paid out of pocket for the care. I do not know if our insurance would have covered an out of state doctor visit (lovely school insurance), and by paying out of pocket we could avoid dealing with the insurance battles. Walgreens lists their cost on their Price Menu, so you know what to expect. I always thought doctor appointments cost a lot more out of pocket.
#3 Needed a Prescription Now
My husband hates to take off work, which makes it really difficult to make him a doctors appointments when he works during their office hours. Usually he just needs a quick appointment to get a prescriptions for an inhaler, so he waits until he absolutely needs it and by then he is desperate. Having a Walgreens Healthcare Clinic nearby is great because he can stop in on the weekend or on his way home from work. He can even schedule an appointment online before he goes in.
#4 Do Not Have a Primary Care Physician
I rarely need to see a doctor, so I do not have a primary care physician. Honestly, the only times I have had my own primary care physician were when we were lucky enough to find a family practitioner that we liked for my kiddos. Visiting a Walgreens Healthcare Clinic is much easier to visit than try to get an appointment with a doctor at a new office.
When would you have loved to have aWalgreens Healthcare Clinic near?
My husband hates taking time off from work too and his prescription is usually gone before he finally makes time to go. I love that with the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic, you can go when it’s convenient for you outside of traditional business hours. #client
