This is the perfect game to get those wiggles and giggles going! This is a game I plan on keeping on hand because my kiddos loved it so much!
p.s. I even made you a video, if you want to see it in action!
What You Need:
- Velcro
- Glue gun
- Scissors
- Ping pong balls (at least 2)
- Material velcro loves to stick to (mesh, knitted blankets/sweaters, basketball shorts material, etc.)
- Children (and parents) who need a good laugh
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare sticky balls: Cut velcro into smaller strips or chunks and use a glue gun to glue the pieces to the ping pong balls. Make sure to use enough velcro to cover the ball so it can stick well. Use a very thin/little amount of glue as you go along gluing. Chunky glue comes off easily. I found the strips were easier to secure to the ball when they were thinner, but it did not really matter in the long run.
Step 2:Prepare fabric. I used 1/3 a yard per child of mesh ($0.97 a yard at WM), but any fabric that velcro loves to stick to (or snag) will work great. (i.e. fabric basketball shorts are made of, mesh, fuzzy sweaters, knitted blankets…You could even make this a game to find things that will work. My original idea was the inside of their sweatshirts, but that was not sticky enough.) If you are using a piece of fabric (not a piece of clothing), cut a slit in it for a head hole. I attempted to attach velcro so the sides would stick together, but I discovered it was totally unnecessary!
Step 3: Prepare players with appropriate sticky clothing, hand them a ball or two each and let fun begin! See what they come up with? The only rule I gave them was to throw it! lol My two got creative in creating their own games and rules. I bet this would even be fun if you had those N**f guns with the velcro darts. My two laughed the entire time!
We threw a knitted blanket over a chair for them to aim at and my son decided to throw a hat on there for a target.
Here is a little video of the fun in action. Their giggling makes me laugh every time I watch it. Forgive the camera operator…it’s a new camera and I am still figuring it all out!
Enjoy!
This looks like so much fun! I can’t wait to try it with my boys. Thanks for the idea! I found you through Made By You Mondays and am now a follower.

That looks fun! I will have to try that.
What a fun game! I’m sure my kiddos would have a blast playing it!
I did something similar for one of my nieces at Christmas but I included a pair of cheap knit gloves for the non-throwing hand. Love the “poncho”! :>)
How fun!!! love this… we are having a link party if you would like to come join! http://www.bubblynaturecreations.com/2011/02/project-party-weekend-make-your-blog.html
What a fun game I love it!! .. It kind of reminds me when I taught school we had one of those suction cup balls, that would stick perfectly to the white board. So we would draw targets, or words on the board, and we would take turns trying to throw them at the target… It was loads of fun! Anyway, went off a little…
