If you know of one, leave it below in a comment and I’ll add it up here. (1 point for each day you keep a full journal= 7 points total) ***Way #2: Read the two articles I linked to above in the first paragraph. Add your own positive twist to the cost of raising a child or tell me your favorite point in a comment below this post (click on the post title if you do not see the comments) AND tell me what you think about the other article and if you can relate in a comment below this post, too. (1 point for each article/comment= Max 2 points) So, you have a chance to get 9 bonus points this week!

Can I just say that nothing feels better than holding a sleeping baby in your arms? Somebody who trusts you completely and knows with all his little heart that you will care for him?
That feeling to me is worth more money than there is in this world.
I love that power of moms article!
I recently started focusing my grocery store “splurging” on healthy prepped foods instead of doughnuts. I’ll eat a salad if I can grab it, but after making kids lunch the last thing I want is to spend 20 minutes prepping my own.
Is there a way that we can know how everyone is doing in the challenge? I’m feeling disconnected, and would at least like to know how many people are doing this.
Thanks.
I agree Sally! I’ll work on that today. It’s snowing outside, so we have plenty of inside time today!
I use the site Lose It to record all my food and exercises
It’s so true how difficult it is to eat good, healthy meals while at home with kiddos…and I only have one! I’ve found that what works best for me is making a big dinner on Monday and Tuesday that leaves me with lots of leftovers for lunches that week, like a big pot of soup or a large casserole or some extra spaghetti. It’s so much easier to eat good food if it’s already prepared and I just have to reheat it up.
I have used two sites before to track my food intake and exercise. One is livestrong.com and the other is myfitnesspal.com both are great and really motivate me. I currently am using myfitnesspal.com to track.
Those articles are great. Thank you for suggesting them.
The first one about the cost of raising a child, made me smile. I have three children and I am so blessed that I have been given the opportunity to raise them. My oldest is in college now and I recieved a Mother’s Day card in the mail from her. It made my heart swell and fill with love. Raising children in my mind is priceless.
The second article brought me back to when my children were young. I can relate to finishing their food so “none goes to waste” and grabing a handful of their snacks, “just because they were there”. It’s no wonder losing weight back then never seemed to happen. I have to say it gets easier as they get older and can get their own snacks. Also, they remind me that I will lose points if I eat that cookie or piece of candy. I love their gentle reminders 🙂
myfitnesspal.com is awesome! Love it. Tracking calories is really hard for me, but I’m going to do it this week! I think I’ll keep my laptop in the kitchen so it’s easier to quickly keep track.
Comment on the cost of raising children: Loved that list, and whenever I think I’m having a ROUGH day and this is SO hard… I think about all my friends who can’t have kids, or are struggling with fertility, or loss of a child…. and then nothing in my life seems too hard to handle.
If I had to add something to the list – you get SMILE line wrinkles instead of FROWNY wrinkles on your face cuz babies make you smile even when you don’t feel like it!
Comment on the Moms gaining weight article: UGH. Yeah. I was definitely in better shape before becoming a mom! I attribute it to the fact that I’m at home, within access of the kitchen all the time. Before kids, I was on the go all day and didn’t have to worry about bringing kid snacks with us (which I just end up munching on myself!)
I read both the articles. After reading the first I thought about how much I love my little Audrey. She is worth more to me than all the money in the world and I can’t think of anything else I would rather spend my money on.
I usually to do pretty good at eating a good dinner. I have found that if I plan my meals for the week and include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks I will eat better. I write my weekly menu down on paper and stick it to the fridge. I only have a two year old so I don’t have a lot of people asking me for things during meals. I serve up the plates and take them all to the table and we eat as a family. I do it for breakfast and lunch too even though it is just the two of us.
I love the laugh your self silly with someone part. Not on your list, but I adore the letters my daughter writes the tooth fairy. Someday, I’m going to take all the notes she wrote and all the notes I responded with and make a book for her. It will be quite the reflection on these years. 🙂
I can relate to the never getting a full meal because of serving everyone else. I like the Mommy is a person thing. Hmmm, I wonder if they’d believe it…
*nothing is better than snuggling a newborn or having your kids give you a hug when you are having a bad day.
*Every taste and finger lick counts (and adds to your calories!)
Wow! Great article of Why Young Mothers Put on the Pounds.
I love it. I have not really sat down to think about why I have been gaining in the first place. I need to find me inside of “mom” again. I know that I just have not really been able to sit down and enjoy my baby and eat food together. 🙂
Thanks for the link!
