After school time can be a rough time if I am not prepared with some sort of snack ready for my starving kiddos shortly after they get home. I recently discovered a fun way to avoid the after school snack time meltdowns…a game! My kiddos love any excuse to have fun and knowing their after school snack is involved makes it more exciting for them. It’s a 2 for 1. Fun and food!
The great thing about playing this game is that my kiddos are old enough to pretty much heat all the food and set up the board by themselves. It is never too early to teach them to be self sufficient, right?! lol And since Bagel Bites are made with real cheese and homemade sauce with 0g trans fat, these makes a yummy snack when they are done playing.
What You Need:
- 1 box Delimex (choose your kiddos favorite variety)
- At least 1 box Bagel Bites (get 1 three cheese and 1 cheese & pepperoni if you do not by the pepperonis separate)
- Pepperoni circles (optional)
- Scissors or knife
Directions:
Step 1: Purchase your Delimex (Taquitos) and Bagel Bites at your local Walmart. Right now you can get both with a coupon, which I linked to each for you.
Step 2: Heat the food as directed on the box. It will take you just over 5 minutes to make this below. Super fast and easy!
Step 3: While the Bagel Bites and Delimex are cooling off prepare the “X”s by folding a pepperoni circle in half and using the scissors to cut a triangle through both layers with out cutting the fold. The bigger the triangle the skinnier the arms of the “X” will be. Once cut, open the pepperoni and fold it the other way and repeat. My kiddos loved cutting the “X”s once they figured out how!
Step 4: Set up the board on a clean playing surface. We used 5 Delimex Taquitos (actually 4 – 2/3…2 full and 3 taquitos cut into 3rds) to create our Tic Tac Toe board.
Step 5: Time for fun! Play away. I let them play a few rounds and then they ate, but I can picture this game lasting longer! I also thought about having the winner pick a Bagel Bite to eat each time, but thought twice when I realized one kiddo might win more than another and that would kill the fun we were trying to create.
Step 6: Enjoy, enjoy! They actually were excellent sports when they did not win and I think the main reason was because they were enjoying playing with their food too much. Life lessons taught here: the best part is not winning, being a good sport and…
…baby sister gets the first Bagel Bite!
