And we are off! Today is the start of or Slim Down For Summer Fitness Challenge. Let’s begin the next 8 weeks. Are you ready for some change? I am!
Here is everything you need to begin.
- This is a point based challenge. You can check out the points system and any rules here. Every now and then (on a check-in day) I will through some bonus points in for the week that you can earn. So, do not get frustrated if you get behind or start late. The point of this challenge is to improve you and have some support/fun while doing it!
- Although this is point based, I do recommend you weigh and/or measure yourself today so you have something to compare to at the end. If you want, take a picture, too. You might surprise yourself!
- Checkins are every Monday. I will have a form for you to fill out that will mainly tally everybody’s points every Monday. If you need daily accountability you can leave a comment on your points/how you are doing on the Monday “Slim Down For Summer” post or on Fun On A Dime’s Facebook under “Discussions” (on the left).
- Here are some tracking sheets for you to print off and have on hand to keep track of your points. If you want a blog button, you will find it on this page with the printouts, too.
- Go here for some tips and tricks or add some of your own.
- And don’t you want to know what you could win? (I’ll have a post up later today with details). So I’m confused — is it literally no sugar? Or no dessert type things. My MIL’s homemade applesauce has added sugar (the apples are SUPER tart). Canned tomatoes have added sugar. Most healthy cereals do too. My Slimfast drinks have some too. So what’s the final call on this?
No it is not literally no sugar…that would be almost impossible for those reasons you just mentioned. It’s more avoiding sugary treats/cereal, regular soda, etc. If you need a dessert, there are tons of sugar free options. Just follow the general guidelines from the top potion of the USDA’s list that I linked to at the bottom of the “rules” post. Does that clarify things?
Okay, so if I want to join in, what do I need to do? Just print out the sheets and start keeping track?
Yes, just print off the sheet to keep track and come back on Mondays to report (you can do it daily via facebook, if daily is needed, but officially on Mondays back here. Since you commented here, I have your email if I need to contact all the participants. And I emailed you about the rest 😉
I totally want that swimsuit. More reason for me to do good in this challenge!

I heard about this through Emali’s facebook. My roommate and I are going to do it together. So, we just sign up here and that’s it? Where do we find the daily bonus point challenges?
Yup! By leaving a comment you have committed to the challenge. Print off a tracking sheet and be prepared to come back on Monday to report – I’ll have a quick form to fill out (you can report daily via facebook under the discussions link, if that motivates you more, too). The Bonus Points will be announced on Mondays on the post to check in, so you won’t miss it and I may wait a couple of weeks while everyone focuses on these habits first before adding any.
