What do you give a blogger for their birthday? A blog post!
I feel like I just told you some sort of knock knock joke! But it is true. For my birthday, my husband created a post project for me complete with pictures he took of the process. I love it! He not only put thought into my gift, but it the product was for me, too! ANd he even tried to make it a little healthier for me by using greek yogurt instead of regular frosting. A perfect gift for a spend thrifty blogger like myself who is attempting to eat healthier!
As an added bonus he figured out how to make it look fancy all on his own using something I would have never thought about. Take a look and enjoy!
What You Need:
- Cinnamon Rolls – your choice to make from scratch or buy refrigerated/frozen
- Greek Yogurt – vanilla or honey
- Mixed fruit
- Syringe – the kind you get from the pharmacy with your kiddos medicine
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare and bake your cinnamon buns of choice without adding the frosting. My hubby chose to go with a bake and serve to make prep easy with all the kiddos around. And just to make sure you did not miss it 😉 …Repeat: Do NOT add the frosting that is provided with the dough. You will use the yogurt in it’s place for this in the next step.
Step 2: Let the rolls cool for at least a few minutes before adding your decorative topping. Once they have cooled, “suck up” the greek yogurt in your syringe.
Step 3: Apply the yogurt slowly in a zig zag pattern across the roll one way and then from the side to get your crisscross pattern. It took about 1 syringe (10 ml/2 tsp) full per roll.
Step 4: Apply mixed fruit and enjoy your fancy looking treat! Again, I loved it with the greek yogurt as a topping because it was not too sweet. Normal frosting leave me with a headache from all their sweetness.
And breakfast in bed is so much better with company!
Bonus Step: This has to be my kiddos’ favorite part!
ENJOY!!!
