I love to see the many pictures my children draw and how they evolve over the years. We recently received the Steps4Kids to Draw DVD that is for ages4 – adult to try out. So far it has been pretty popular at my house!
“To help strengthen children’s connection with art, the Steps4Kids to Draw DVD uses video modeling combined with easy-to-follow auditory instructions to help teach viewers of varying skill levels to draw animals, people, shapes and things. The goal is not to replace viewers’ imaginations but rather to foster their creativity by helping them feel successful!”
This drawing DVD provides instructions on how to draw over 40 items within four popular categories like, Animals, People, Shapes & Things. Since this DVD is for ages 4 – Adult there is something for everyone to learn. My 4 year old daughter can work on her shapes, my 6 year old can draw animals and I can improve my own doodling skills, too.
When I first saw the DVD I expected it to be a movie…one long movie. I was pleasantly surprised to see that instead of one long clip showing many different ways to draw, it was an assortment of many short clips. Making it easy to focus on one item to draw at a time and easy to rewatch as many times as needed. I have been using this DVD to occupy one or two kiddos while I am making dinner (or otherwise known as “the crazy hour”). I will put our computer on the table with some paper and pencils in front of it. They are busy learning and improving their drawing skills and I am able to make sure they are staying out of mischief while I am finishing dinner. Today I watched my son draw a shark on his own. In the past when he would draw on his own, he would get really frustrated if he did not draw it right the first time. Now, he can click on what he wants to draw, watch it in action and then attempt to do it on his own and/or follow along until he is done. Gotta love it!
Steps4Kids just released their Steps4Kids to Draw DVD last month, July 2012. You can get more information on this DVD and others on their site and be sure to follow Steps4Kids on Facebook for up to date information and discounts.
