I swear I blinked and October was over. Do you all feel the same way?? Please tell me I’m not crazy:) Now that November is here it is a great time to reflect on all the things we are thankful for, we like to call it Give Extra Thanks! I love doing this with my kids because they always come up with such interesting things that they are thankful for. Ask any three year old what they are thankful for and you never know what you are gonna get. My three year old is thankful for “Pickles!”
My big girls were all thankful for being able to play the piano and they couldn’t do that without their wonderful piano teacher so we decided to make her an Extra special thank you. She gives the girls a piece of gum every time they are done with their lesson for doing such a good job. So gum always makes us think of her. We thought a gum bouquet was the perfect gift for her!
I wanted the girls to be in charge so that it was really from them so they brainstormed how they wanted to do it. They decided they really wanted to use duct tape (are your kids as obsessed with duct tape as mine are?) so we found this big can and they decorated away! Their little brother didn’t want to miss out on the fun.
They found their favorite colors and taped away. Inside the can we put some Styrofoam pieces we had in the garage to make the skewers stand up. We picked up every pack of Extra gum that our local Walmart had so we ended up with eight packs. #CollectiveBias It was the perfect amount for their can.
They taped the packs of gum to wooden skewers and stuck them in the Styrofoam so they would stand up.
Next they cut out green leaves and wrote messages on each one. This was my favorite part, it gave it the personal touch:)
Here is the final project! They put a piece of green tissue paper to cover up the Styrofoam at the end. I think it turned out pretty cute since they made it all themselves. I would have done it a little differently but I think its fun to see what they will create when left to their own imaginations. #ExtraGumMoments
All that was left was to deliver it. I love when my kids get to do fun things and create lasting memories. This is the perfect activity for your kids to make for someone special in their lives. It would make a great teacher gift!
What are your kids thankful for and how do they show it? Share in the comments!
