How to Throw An Avengers Party
Last weekend we threw an Avengers Movie Marathon Party to celebrate the upcoming release of the MARVEL’S The Avengers: Age of Ultron / The Avengers. This was our second just for the fun of it/non-birthday party we have thrown and it was so much fun! Today I am sharing with you four quick and easy steps that helped me plan this theme party. If you throw your own Avengers Party, make sure you leave a comment with the link, so I can check it out. I would love to see it.
Create a Party Plan
First, Research and Invite
Do a quick google search for ideas (or wherever is your favorite place to be inspired). Here I was able to get some quick and easy ideas for food and games. I would screen shot my favorites on my phone so I could remember later as I was shopping. This took me less than 10 minutes.
Do NOT forget to send out invites at least a few days in advance and include an RSVP so you know you have enough supplies for everyone. Invites do not have to be super complicated. I found this cute, yet simple free movie ticket printable invite via my “research” and it made it easy for me to send invites out quickly. I learned my son’s friends did not think it was official until they had an invite in their hands (ha!). It also made it easier for the invitees to show their parents the info, too.
Second, Shop!
You do not have to buy a ton your first trip, but you are more than welcome. I tried to do it in two trips. One trip to buy supplies for our activities and quickly browse food possibilities and the second trip the day before the party to get the food once I have cleaned out my fridge and made room for everything. I don’t know about everyone else, but if I buy food early, I guarantee it will not make it to the party with my boys!
Luckily, Walmart made some of the food shopping easy because they already had some Avengers themed foods available like Dorritos, Cheez-it baked crackers and Dr. Pepper. They also had Avengers decor in the party section and Avengers toys and games over in the toy section.
For added fun you can download the Walmart Avengers app on your phone that allows for additional adventure fun within the store when you find certain images. My son is so excited to pull the app up every time we go to the store!
Third, Prep the Night Before
Lay out everything you have purchased or will be using for your party by activity/food theme so you can make sure you have all the supplies needed. I am a visual person so this really helps run through each activity and see if I am missing anything important. There is always time to run to the store the night before, but its harder an hour before the party if you do find out you are missing something. Plus, that is so much more stressful!
This is also a great time to make sure you prep any activities. For me I had to pre wash shirts for tie-dying, quickly designed and printed out some fun super hero and Avenger themed decorations and wrapped the movie boxes. I had hoped to decorate after all the kiddos went to bed so it was ready in the morning when everyone woke up, but that did not happen.
Fourth, Create a Schedule
This schedule does not have to be fancy or very detailed, but it does need to have your main activities and a few backups listed. It is helpful if you put them in order of how you would like to do them. I wrote mine down on a notecard that I kept on the back counter. This helped me see my time and if I needed to add or remove any activities. It also helped my husband, who I was lucky enough wanted to hang around for the fun, know what order everything was supposed to be in.
My schedule included the following below. I will be updating this with links to posts over the next few days so you can get all of our fun ideas. If I included it all on this post, it would be WAY too long!
Avengers Themed Food and Centerpiece Decor
As I mentioned above, right now it is easy to find Avengers themed food at the grocery store to help with your party planning with soda, chips and crackers. This included some fun food for our snack table but also one of our main activities of Avenger Mini Pizzas. Check out all our Avengers Themed Food Ideas here.
Avenger Party Activities
Keep them Busy Party Activities
We had a handful of backup and little activities that helped fill the time when half the group was working on the bigger projects. Like decorating their personal movie boxes or our Avenger Attack Game. Check them out here!
Avenger Pizza
Yup, creating our own lunch was a big activity on our list. The kids had a lot of fun getting creative with their own food! Details can be found here.
Captain America Tie-Dye T-shirts
As soon as I saw an idea for Captain America tie-dye t-shirts, I knew we had to do it. The activity itself went a lot smoother and quicker than I planned, which is awesome. I think I researched way longer than it took to make, but I am glad I did because I am going to save you a lot of time when you try to recreate these. All the party goers were excited about their shirts! Check out the full post here.
Avenger Pillow Sumo Wrestling
Sometimes just mentioning Avengers turns all boys in a room into one of their favorite characters. This game allows them to do it in a safe manner but also comes with tons of giggles. The girls even had a lot of fun! Check out the full details HERE.
We even created a mini pre battle photo booth for them to quickly take a picture of each kiddo in their gear.
Avenger Movie Boxes
Every movie goes loves a little snack and this kit that they helped decorate earlier ended up being so much fun to put together. More details to come on this, too.
I have showed you how we are preparing for The Avengers: Age of Ultron release with my party plan! What are you planning to do with your friends and family?
(Please share below in the comments. I’d love to hear what you a re going to do!)
I LOVE that wrestling game! How FUN is that?! I think even Adults would have fun playing that one too, but they might have to take it outside. My eldest and I had a progressive movie marathon over the span of a month before we went to see the movie last night. It was SO much fun and I LOVED the movie. LOVED. I mean, how could you not? It was hilarious AND hot. So much hot. 🙂 #client
