I was perusing Pinterest the other day (surprise, surprise) and I saw this and it caught my eye from Bloom.
I had to read it and I was not disappointed and decided I needed to do something just like it.
Get Motivated To Change
You see I am a yeller. I grew up in a family of yellers and I have carried on the tradition. It is not something I like and I must say I am way better than I use to be but being pregnant makes my fuse even shorter so it is back with a vengeance. I feel bad every time I explode but then two days later it happens again. I have noticed it has started leaking over into my kids and I notice them yelling too. This makes me even more motivated to change so they have a good example to look up to. There are a lot of things I want to pass down to my future generations but this is definitely not one of them.
How The Challenge Works
I have always been a person that likes lists and loves setting goals so that I can be accountable to someone and let’s be honest who doesn’t love a reward. The gal on a Place to Bloom made a chart to reward herself after 100 days of her no yelling but I need a shorter goal to work with. I decided 30 days is where I would start. For every day I do not yell I will put a colored shape on the square and then for every day I slipped I would get a black one. For every colored shape on the chart I get a $1 to spend at a moms outing after the 30 days are up. I chose Barnes and Noble for my mom outing because I love that store but never spend money there on myself because it isn’t a necessity so it is a treat!!
Free Printable
I have created a free printout for anyone who wants to join me in becoming a better mom!!! It is the best job in the world and we should be the best that we can be at it!!
I have started my challenge a few days ago and I can’t believe the change in my house already. The mood is just different and even my kids aren’t arguing with each other as much either. I hope this keeps up!! I put my chart right on the fridge so I would see it all the time and keep myself even more accountable. Click the picture to get your own No Yelling Challenge Printout.
I would love to hear how you are doing as you do the first 30 days. I will update my (hopefully) successes each 30 days and we can motivate and keep each other accountable.
